3 Ways to Show Up For Yourself. Get Shit Done!

We're all human & we are all on this earth living...getting up in the morning, making coffee, heading to work, lunch, dinner, and then going to bed...to only get up and do it all over again. It's very true that we are all living, but how many of us can say that we are truly ALIVE? How many of us can say that we are flapping our wings, living in color, being present for every moment, and doing what's necessary to say YES to ourselves every single day? While you're searching for the answer I will tell you now....not many.

Some of you may be wondering..."what exactly does it mean to show up for yourself?" Or thinking..."I'm showing up for myself...I think". Showing up for yourself simply means saying YES to yourself and we're going to share 3 simple tips for saying YES to yourself every single day. But, before we dive into some tips for saying yes to yourself I want to quickly explore all of the habits/activities that demonstrate we are actually saying NO to ourselves.

Activities (we all do) that demonstrate we are saying no to ourselves include things such as scanning all of your social media channels and devices for hours, oversleeping, eating when you're not hungry, indulging in frivolous activities, and the list goes on. These activities actually distract you and take up your time, time that could be devoted to getting the important work done.

Now that we've explored just a few of the things that demonstrate what it looks like to say NO to ourselves, I'll share 3 ways to show up for yourself & get shit done!

Plan to be Excellent: Each day when you wake up (or before you go to bed at night) ask yourself, "What can I do today to be excellent?", "How am I going to show up for ME today in a way that I didn't do yesterday?". It may be saying yes to going to the gym, eating better, working on that business, getting a massage, reading a book, or giving a killer presentation at work. Whatever it is, decide to be excellent at it from the very beginning. Even the most mundane task deserves your full effort and is just as important as the next. Every day wake up and proclaim "I'm a Badass and today I will be Excellent!"

Be Aware: Be more aware of each moment and when you start to fall into an activity that is merely a distraction quickly direct your efforts towards doing something that your future self will thank you for....like going to the gym! (lol) Stay away from putting off what you could do today to tomorrow and make a commitment to get it done and cross it off your list today.

Be Present. Be Fully Engaged: Have you ever saw someone in a room, walking to the train, or even on a date and their head is completely in their phones?! Be fully present and be fully engaged by anchoring yourself in whatever it is you are doing. Feel your breath as your breath, feel the texture of your clothing, notice the expression on the person's face across from you, feel your body in that place, notice the flower on the counter, the sound of the wind blowing. Being present and fully engaged will help you to notice all of the beauty around you, all of the possibilities, and help you focus on doing the more important work.

Showing up for yourself, saying YES to you is one of the most important things you could do. Taking these 3 steps will have you more productive verses just being busy. Each day make a commitment to take it up another notch and give a little more of yourself. Stop making excuses for why you can't get it done, why you can't be excellent, & start SHOWING UP for yourself...every. single. day.
